As Christmas was rapidly approaching, we decided it would be good to find out how the Swedes Celebrate Christmas and base our training weekend on a Christmas theme. The weekend started with a bit of Cooking practice when the patrols were challenged to cook Griddled Scones and cinder toffee with some good results. Saturday afternoon was time to decorate the building at Braid wood for the Christmas festivities, with unit setting to work with mountains of lights, tinsel and a couple of Christmas trees. A production line was set up making snow flakes and table decorations to complete the decorations. Preparations also began for our Swedish Christmas dinner.

With the Hall decorated, it was time for everyone to glam up for Dinner, with dresses and ties the order of the day. We were joined for dinner by the Composite patrol, who nervously arrived, not really sure what they were getting them selves in to, but were very soon made to feel welcome. Dinner was served consisting of Gravlax, Roast Gammon followed by Cheese Ice cream or Meringues with Chocolate sauce. After some entertaining speeches from a couple of the Patrol leaders, Tomten (Father Christmas) visited us to deliver unit scarves, and hand out the Secret Santa Presents. After dinner it was party time, with the unit (and leaders!) dancing the night away.

Sunday was a bit of a late start, but time to get on with some more training, with the unit planing some join in jamboree activities and starting to learn a few words of Swedish. We also managed to find time to make Gingerbread houses and play a wide game in the woods before people went home to rest after another hectic weekend, enjoyed by all
